Chiropractic Care Changed Dr. Scharf’s Life When She Was 12

When Dr. Allison Scharf, DC was 9 years old, she started having terrible migraines a couple of times a month. She had the classic symptoms – intense, throbbing pain in her head, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and earaches. She would often lie down in a dark, silent room and cry herself to sleep because of the pain.

At age 12, Dr. Scharf went to see a chiropractor who had been treating her mother’s back pain. The chiropractor took an x-ray and discovered that Dr. Scharf didn’t have a natural curve in her cervical spine. Her neck was straight, which was causing irritation in the nerves and blood vessels in that area.

After a few visits to the chiropractor, Dr. Scharf stopped having migraines. She hasn’t had one since.

Dr. Scharf’s lifelong desire has been to help adults and children find relief from health issues without medication or surgery, but it was this experience as a child that inspired her to become a chiropractor.

Dr. Scharf earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY-Binghamton. She earned a second bachelor’s degree in human anatomy from the National College of Chiropractic before graduating in 1993 with a Doctor of Chiropractic. After working for two chiropractic practices, Dr. Scharf founded In Good Hands Chiropractic Center in Princeton in January of 2005. Through continuing education and training, Dr. Scharf has been able to incorporate new chiropractic techniques and tools into her practice, as well as NAET for allergies and sensitivities.

A respected member of the Princeton business community, Dr. Scharf was voted “Best Chiropractor” in the Town Topics Readers’ Choice Awards for 2018.
